Good afternoon!
It’s been nearly 300 days since Mayor Daniel Lurie announced a plan to “clean up” the 16th Street BART plaza. We’ve a got new data tool, updated daily, that will show all the arrests and citations around the areaโand what the SFPD is focusing on.
S.F. supervisors unanimously passed a law today that would give lower-income tenants three and a half years of rental aid if they’re displaced, and put new conditions on developers who want to demolish buildings. Tenant advocates say state rules on upzoning will still leave many of the city’s tenants unprotected.
In other housing news, following Mission Local’s reporting on aย long-delayed affordable housing project in the Tenderloin, the mayorโs office of housing has changed course, and committed to seek developers for the site within the next two years.
For back story, see Eleni Balakrishnan‘s great reporting revealing the delays at the stalled Tenderloin site.
More soon,
Sara
P.S. It’s going to be packed, but there should be space for some walk-ins at our immigration event tonight: Gray Area/Grand Theater at 6PM. Stop by and check it out!
