Today from Mission Local

Good afternoon!

D4 Supervisor Alan Wong‘s effort to re-open the Great Highway to cars via ballot measure has failed in a way one political consultant called “quite embarassing.” Wong was unable to find just three other supervisors to support his measure; Junyao Yang and Joe Eskenazi have the story.

Well, shortly after Mayor Daniel Lurie visited the 16th Street Bart plaza on Saturday afternoon, three people were arrested there for stabbing three victims. Police said the attacks were verbal confrontations that turned physical.

See our back story on the city-funded family-friendly pop-up event that Lurie was promoting as a way to reclaim the space for “positive interactions and solutions.”

There’s a new podcast out from Mission Localย copyeditor Beth Winegarner and writer Courtney Minick that’s all about death, history, cadavers, and the occasional underground bone pit. Check out Dead Reckoning to find out where the bodies are really buried in San Francisco.

More soon,
