Here’s a nice bit of cheer for the holidays: Jim’s Restaurant, the beloved Mission diner, will stay open after its owners’ retirement. Read how a 30-year friendship between a Mission activist and diner owner Kim Jung Nyun led to the nonprofit Mission Language and Vocational School stepping up to keep Jim’s going.

They’re everywhere in the city, but Waymo is lobbying hard to get its driverless cars access to the San Francisco Airport so it can start making real money. Joe Eskenazi explains why Waymo’s plans for expansion are heading into an “existential” fight with the Teamstersโ€”and their allies in City Hall.
