Today from Mission Local

Good afternoon! And happy nochebuena.

UCSF told workers at Ward 86, where a social worker was fatally stabbed earlier this month, to stop talking about the incident without an attorney present because of potential litigation. Eleni Balakrishnan reports that workers, who’ve been speaking out publicly about safety lapses, were afraid to express their reactions to the directive.

Holiday or not, the clock’s still ticking on a “staggering” number of eviction cases. Marina Newman follows a monolingual man whose employer came to court to plead for him. “I don’t pretend to know a whole bunch or be an attorney,” said the employer. “I just know what strikes me as not fair.”

And Nicholas David has the buzz on an “absolutely brutal” blackout weekend in the Richmond. Do support these small businesses now and after the holidays, to help them recoup their losses.

More soon,

Sara
