After a long day’s night of wrangling, the Budget & Appropriations Committee of the Board of Supes advanced Mayor Daniel Lurie’s proposed $15.9 billion budget, making small changes to avoid about 57 layoffs. Lurie presents his final budget Monday, and the full Board will negotiate through July.
The committee cut the amount of Prop C money Lurie could take from housing and give to temporary shelters from $89 million to $34 million. But it let Lurie shift the funds without a supermajority. See our back story.
If you live in San Francisco, your trash and recycling fees are going up 24% in October. The Refuse Rate Board, which oversees price hikes, heard three hours of pushback from angry residents.
