Today from Mission Local

Good afternoon!

How quickly we forget: In 2022, responding to widespread corruption, voters passed Prop E to keep supervisors from soliciting funds from firms doing business with the city. Io Yeh Gilman reports on a new ordinance that would allow supes to ask for “behested payments” again.

The Trump Administration attempted to revive an estimated 2,000 cases at S.F.’s immigration court that had been paused for years, even decades, writes Zack Haber. Bay Area attorneys say the move targeted victims of crime and abuse who were seeking special status visas.

The city began towing RVs in Bayview this week, even though some RV owners say they are still waiting for decisions on their permit appeals. Others told Marina Newman they weren’t approached by city workers about the ban.

See our back story about the AI chatbot the city launched to answer questions from RV dwellersโ€”and the inaccurate, irrelevant, or contradictory answers it gave in response.

More soon,

Sara

P.S. Hey, get your tickets now: Joe Eskenazi is interviewing State Senator (and now Congressional candidate) Scott Weiner at Manny’s on Monday. Should be pretty interesting.
