Today from Mission Local

Good afternoon!

How confrontational should a candidate be with his own party? Ioh Yeh Gilman has a great profile of Congressional hopeful Saikat Chakrabarti, who, recalls a former colleague in the office of Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, “came in like, ‘Weโ€™re here to call people out on their bullshit and burn this place to the ground and be radicals and flamethrowers and call it like we see it.'”

In other election news, the candidates for D2 Supervisor debated last night. Unsurprisingly, housingโ€”what, how much, and where to buildโ€”was the most heated topic.

Clara-Sophia Daly reports on the final day of San Francisco’s main immigration court at 100 Montgomeryโ€”and what the closing means for immigrants, attorneys, and the few judges who haven’t already been fired.

Last week, the California Academy of Scientists announced it would lay off 53 workers. But many of its unionized scientists, educators and floor staff want to save jobs by negotiating salary cuts for highly-paid administrators.
