Today from Mission Local

Good afternoon!

News update: Oakland Mayor Barbara Lee confirmed she was told by the Alameda County sheriff that ICE and border patrol operations have been called off for the greater Bay Area, as well as San Francisco.

The city is investigating an alleged jailhouse fist fight between sheriffโ€™s deputies and an inmate last week. The inmate alleges that multiple deputies tased and punched him after a deputy took him into a room to “handle this the old San Bruno way.โ€

Meanwhile, an unprecedented rise in misdemeanor prosecutions by D.A. Brooke Jenkins is overwhelming courts and public defenders, and the city controller is investigating. The S.F. Superior Court has warned it will have to release some prisoners from pre-trial detention if they’re held too long without representation.

More soon,

Sara
