Good morning!
Police shot and killed Ryant Bluford in Bayview yesterday after he raised a pistol during a standoff. The officers were part of the SFPD Community Violence Reduction Team โ formerly known as the Gang Task Force.
The city says that none of the people recently arrested or cited for public drug use accepted services upon release from jail. But Griffin Jones interviewed service providers and drug users who say there’s a lack of transparency about what’s being offered โ as well as a lack of trust.
Every month, UCSF and SF General doctors fly to Wichita, Kansas to provide abortion care. The Kansas clinic fields 12,000 calls a day, mostly from women in nearby states where abortion is banned. Roving provider Dr. Jennifer Kerns says, “It feels like a responsibility to provide my services.“
