Good afternoon! It’s been a week full of election news.
We asked D1 supe candidates if they support upzoning in their district. Take a look at their answers, and then come tell reporter Junyao Yang what you think at 10 a.m. next Thursday, May 2, at Home Coffee Roasters (2018 Clement.)
Next up: we wanted to see how D11 supe candidates voted on March’s Prop E, which would increase police powers. Only one said San Francisco should “treat criminals like criminals,” and hailed El Salvador’s draconian mass imprisonments.
Then we continued our “See how they run” series on the mayoral campaigns. Yesterday, Mayor Breed strolled through the Portola, accompanied by longtime supporter Mrs. Wong and a dozen other “Chinese grannies.” Breed, who’s recently touted a reduced crime rate, said the city was “turning a new leaf.”
Back in the neighborhood, Rob Grays, the managing partner of Dahlia, a tequila and mezcal bar on 14th and Mission, talked with Mission Local about the bar’s huge variety of tequilasโand his plans for the venue, which features a subterranean dance floor. Cheers!
Note to readers: We expect a crowd, so get your tickets now for Joe Eskenazi‘s interview with mayoral candidate Aaron Peskin on Friday May 3, 7 p.m. at Manny’s.
More soon,
Sara
