Today from Mission Local

Good afternoon!

It’s Election Day, and I hope you’ve figured out the (surprisingly short) list of San Francisco measures and district races, and somehow whacked your way through the sixty-one gubernatorial candidates. If you haven’t voted yet, you can drop off your ballot or vote at a polling place or City Hall until 8PM tonight.

And why does it matter? Joe Eskenazi writes that despite the “unappealing morass” at the top of the ticket, municipal issues (for example, the outcome of competing Props. C & D) are going to have a much greater impact on locals.

For back story, see Joe’s piece on Mayor Lurie and the Overpaid CEO Tax.

Stay tuned: The first batch of votes is being tabulated and will drop tonight at 8:45. Meanwhile, we’ve got 15 reportersโ€”plus interns!โ€”spread out all over the city, and will be posting live election updates all day and well into the night.

More soon,

Sara

Lurie and labor are on a collision course.

If Prop. D fails โ€” or if the measure designed to tank it, Prop.C, gets more votes โ€” the city will have to deal with perhaps $300 million yearly failing to materialize.
