Good afternoon!

A group of family and friends mourned community volunteer Damien Gonzáles outside the Mission Rec Center, where he was shot and killed on Friday. “Damien went above and beyond for everyone,” said his mother between sobs. The 18-year-old was expecting his first child this fall, and a GoFundMe page has been set up to support his partner and their unborn child.

San Francisco cops were paid more than $143,000 in overtime for corralling skateboarders at the Dolores Park hill bomb; there may be more costs to the city if lawsuits over the mass arrests succeed. The cases against all but two of the 83 minors arrested that night have been dropped.

And here’s what the doctor ordered: a sausage, egg, and cheese…or maybe a cheesesteak and emotional support. We visit with the people who feed the people who care for the people at SF General Hospital.

More soon,

Sara

Reminder: one week from today, Joe Eskenazi interviews Dean Preston at Manny’s. Tickets here.
