Good afternoon!

Well, Kristi Noem has been fired as Secretary of Homeland Security, but not before mentioning that she talks “quite often” with Mayor Daniel Lurie, calling him “cooperative.” A City Hall source told Joe Rivano Barros that Noem hasn’t talked to the mayor in four months.

For back story on why Noem’s comments might be problematic for Lurie, see Joe’s piece on how the mayor has kept records of his October call with President Donald Trump secret.

The five candidates for D4 supervisor faced tough questions at a forum last night where they were asked about their most controversial positions. Junyao Yang reports on who tried to explain, who blamed Covid, and who just punted.

You can also see the D4 candidates’ answers to our question about a Muni parcel tax. Only one said, “Now you want us to bail you out? This is a hard no!”ย

Nice story from Alice Finno on the hawks of Mission High School, and tips for watching their nest as they lay eggs and the chicks hatch.

More soon,
