Disgraced former DBI senior building inspector Bernie Curran was sentenced today to a year and a day in prison, and ordered to pay restitution. He wept as his lawyers asked for leniency.

The Planning Commission has approved a controversial ordinance that would allow developers to jumpstart stalled projects by including significantly fewer affordable units. Even so, the new rules would most likely boost condo construction, not the development of rental housing.
