Today from Mission Local

Good afternoon!

We’ve got a few rainy-day stories for you.

Junyao Yang has a nice piece about all the new art spaces in the Sunset. Read about what draws artists out to the avenues, to live and work in the fog.

And see Junyao’s interview with Sunset chalk artist Khalid Zakouk, who spends hours on the sidewalk creating his drawings.

Over in Potrero Hill, the indie band Carpool Tunnel is playing a last Noise Pop gig at Bottom of the Hill, and they talk with JL Odom about the beloved music venue that’s closing at the end of the year.

And here’s a very cool 2010 story by H.R. Smith about preservation efforts in the Mission Dolores neighborhood. I mean, did you know about the time in 1906 that the community poured milk from nearby dairies onto the Swedish Lutheran church at 15th Street to keep it from burning?

Hey, Mission Local is hiring an HR Associate and Office Manager. Take a look at the job description and send a cover letter (subject line: HR and office manager) with your resume toย applications@missionlocal.com if you’re interested.

More soon,

Sara
