Two weeks before the RV parking ban goes into effect, the city rolled out an AI chatbot to deal with concerns from RV dwellers: When will towing begin? How do I make an appeal? What should I do about a ticket? Marina Newman tested the chatbot with someone living in a van, and got a range of incorrect, differing, and irrelevant answers to crucial questions.

After Mission Local reported on strip searches in city jails, the Sheriff’s Department announced a new policy: Instead, inmates will be subject to body scans following attorney visits. Abigail Vรขn Neely has the story.

Update from the S.F. immigration courts, where fewer asylum-seekers are showing up to their hearings for fear of ICE arrests. Our reporter Sage Rรญos Mace was barred from touring the ICE facilities with D11 Supervisor Cheyanne Chen, but got Chen’s report on conditions inside.
