Good afternoon!

Mission Local has been covering Mayor Daniel Lurie‘s efforts to stop drugs and vending around 16th and Mission for a year now. Lydia Chรกvez has a column about zoning, regulations, and the area’s proliferation of smoke shops and cannabis stores.

For back story, read our story from Day One of the police crackdown, March 12, 2025, when the SFPD deployed its “Mobile Command Unit” to 16th and Mission.

Facing anger from teachers, students and parents, the SFUSD backed down on its proposal to cut a period from many middle-school days, which would have eliminated electives including music, art, and sports. Marina Newman reports on how some band students and their families lobbied the superintendent.

Junyao Yang asks the District 4 candidates for supervisors if they would act to support the affordable housing for seniors at 1234 Great Highway.

More soon,
