Manny’s: “Push Print” with PRIDE: Amplifying Queer Experiences Through Storytelling

June 6, 2024 @ 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm
Alphabet letters A to Z in uppercase are overlaid atop colorful, abstract blobs in varying pastel shades.

Join us for an insightful discourse between authors Megan Rohrer and Kilian Colin as they consider what motivates writers to share their stories and especially to amplify the voices of queer and trans people, especially when society continues to try to erase them. These engaging storytellers will delve into the importance of sharing lived experiences to foster community, connection, and social change while living in the tension to accept their own writing barriers and yet, at the same time, their desire to “push print” and be published. The two authors we want to highlight on are:

Kilian Colin (he/him) is a storyteller and author of fiction novels and wartime memoirs, celebrated for his captivating narratives and intricately crafted characters. Originally from Baghdad, Kilian brings the rich cultural heritage of his hometown to life in his writing, drawing inspiration from his experiences in science and his dedication to advocating for human rights.

Outside the realm of storytelling, Kilian seeks solace in the tranquil shores of San Diego, where he enjoys leisurely walks along the beach, accompanied by the enchanting melodies of traditional Iraqi music by Salima Pasha Murad and Salah Daoud Al-Kuwaiti.

Stay updated with Kilian’s latest works and musings by following him on social media @TheKilianColin or delving deeper into his literary universe on his website https://www.wilgefortis.net/thekiliancolin.
