Behind every thing or trait we inherit is a story: a story that can connect us back to ancestors we may never have had the chance to meet. Everything from the way we speak, how we carry ourselves, how we look, gestures, recipes, garments, jewelry, religious practices, and names can be traced back to the people who raised us.
Over the course of three sessions, students will identify something they have inherited from their families, learn how to conduct interviews, and write a narrative essay about what they learned.
This workshop will take place at our Mission Center Writing Lab (826 Valencia Street).
To express interest in this workshop fill out the following Google Form: https://forms.gle/H8RnYXQv2TbLJ7PN7
After registering, staff will reach out to offer a spot depending on eligibility and availability in the program. Our workshops are open to everyone, but we give priority to SFUSD students with a socio-economic need and hold spaces for students enrolled in our other programs.
