18 Reasons: Flavors of Southeast Asia: Laksa

June 5 @ 6:00 pm - 10:00 pm
Bowl of laksa with noodles, shrimp, chicken, egg, and herbs, alongside event details for a Southeast Asian cooking class on June 5 from 6-10 PM with instructor Linda Tay Esposito.

Dive into the spicy and soul-warming world of laksa. If you’re new to laksa, it is a spicy noodle dish in Southeast Asia. However, there are as many varieties of laksa as there are states in Malaysia.

This annual class by Chef Linda is a deep exploration of one of Southeast Asia’s most beloved dishes—where no two bowls are ever quite the same – and a time to have fun with the quintessential flavors of laksa. We will build foundational techniques of making spice paste and coaxing the flavors out while balancing sour, spicy, and umami elements. You will understand the cultural influences—Malay, Chinese, Peranakan, and Thai—that shape each bowl.

Linda chose four recipes for our spice-filled adventure. We have two classic recipes, accompanied by a few contemporary variations. It’s Laksapalooza!
