18 Reasons: Conchas and Pan Dulce

May 26 @ 6:00 pm - 9:30 pm
A concha bread is shown whole and sliced in half on a marble surface. Text reads: "Conchas and Pan Dulce, Tuesday 26 May, 6-9:30 PM, Instructor: Raquel Goldman.

We’re excited to welcome our friend and neighbor Raquel to our classroom. She’s the owner and baker behind Norte 54, a modern Mexican bakery. She creates beautiful conchas and desserts based on the traditions of Mexico with her own additions.

In this class, students will learn to make traditional pan dulce using quality, seasonal ingredients, and simple techniques. Raquel will teach you an essential recipe: concha dough, enriched with butter and then you will use that one dough to make three varieties of pan dulce: conchas, filled conchas, and ochos. You’ll gain an appreciation for “cafe con pan” or merienda, a Mexican tradition where you break bread and gather in community. Class will conclude with a light dinner served with wine, beer and N/A beverages.

After this class, we hope you bake for your community and continue the tradition yourself!
