If you patronize Dog-Eared books in the evenings, you’ve seen the bespectacled Veronica De Jesus sitting at the corner of the counter and laboring over one of her memorials. Sometimes customers suggest them. Sometimes she thinks of them herself. For whatever reason, it’s comforting to walk down Valencia Street and see a memorial to a community activist right next to a memorial to Joe Strummer.

Now some of the memorials have been collected in a book. And there’s a party. 6 p.m. 20th and Valencia. The sign in the window promises Music, Food, Drinks, and Warmth.
