ODC Theater: Isadora Duncan Dance Awards

The Isadora Duncan Dance Awards (The Izzies) celebrates the unique richness, diversity, and excellence of Bay Area dance.

We are excited to announce that both our Executive Director, Krissy Keefer, and our Program Director, Stella Adelman, are being honored at this year’s Isadora Duncan Dance Awards. And! Many Dance Mission family members have also been nominated for their work over the ‘24-’25 season.

The celebration will be Monday, March 30 at ODC’s B. Way Theater at 6:30pm. We hope you can join us! Tickets and more information can be found here.

Sustained Achievement Honoree: Krissy Keefer: Founder of Dance Brigade / Dance Mission, Keefer is being recognized with a Sustained Achievement Award for her extraordinary 50-year commitment to the Bay Area dance community. For five decades, Keefer has been a cornerstone of the dance scene, sustaining Dance Mission through countless challenges while providing vital support for choreographers. Her vision has reached broad and inclusive audiences, empowering marginalized communities through extensive dance class offerings and performance opportunities, ensuring that diverse voices are seen, heard and respected in the Bay Area arts landscape.

Special Award Honoree: Stella Adelman: Recognition of her transformative 20-year leadership at Dance Mission Theater. As the face of the organization for two decades, Adelman has been instrumental in building some of its most celebrated programming. Her multifaceted contributions as teacher, student, dancer, administrator, director, advocate, and activist have championed cultural dance and its vital role in education and wellness throughout San Francisco and beyond, making her an indispensable force in the Bay Area dance community.

* Board Member Eddie Whitfield is nominated for Best Individual Performance;
* Dimensions Dance Theater is nominated for outstanding achievement in music/sound/text for their performance at Dance Mission as part of the Black Choreographers Festival;
* Dance Mission teacher, Suhaila Salimpour, is nominated for Outstanding Achievement in Restaging/Revival/Reconstruction for her show, Bal Anat.
