A man was killed in a broad daylight shooting near Turk and Taylor streets on Wednesday morning, according to the San Francisco Police Department.

Officers responded to Turk Street just before 9 a.m. and attempted to resuscitate the victim, who was declared dead at the scene. Video uploaded to Citizen showed a body on the sidewalk covered with a tarp near the entrance to Aunt Charlieโ€™s Lounge.

On Wednesday afternoon, police arrested Sefanaia Alatini, a 37-year-old Oakland resident, for murder and being a felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition. By Thursday morning, Alatini was no longer in jail custody.

The victim has not yet been identified.

On Jan. 30 a juvenile girl was also fatally killed in a triple shooting near Jefferson Square Park. San Francisco saw its lowest homicide rate in 70 years in 2025, with 28 killings through the entire year.

  1. SF was doing so good with violence/gun/stabbing reduction recently, especially last year. I don’t know what the causes for the increases are but hopefully they can be reduced again. These violent perpetrators really need to learn how to control their emotions, and stop killing people over basic disagreements.
