Superintendent Maria Su announced that the SF. school district is on track to exit state oversight of its finances—but only if the district continues to make budget cuts. Teachers, who authorized a strike this week over raises and healthcare, noted that the district has proposed 13% pay raises for some management positions.

What happens to tenants displaced by fires, if there’s no incentive to make timely repairs? Oscar Palma reports on a Folsom Street building where tenants allege years of negligence leading to the fire, and are suing to pressure the landlord for repairs so they can return home.
