Two suspects robbed a 44-year-old woman of her cell phone on the 2400 block of Mission Street near 20th around 6:25 p.m. on Tuesday, according to police.

The victim was texting on her phone when the two suspects approached her.

One asked for a cigarette and she refused, the report said. The suspect then grabbed her phone, and the two engaged in a sort of cell phone tug-of-war. The suspect was able to pull the phone from the victim’s grasp.

Both suspects, described as males between the ages of 17 and 19, fled in an unknown direction.

Lt. David Smith, acting commander for the Mission District Police Station, said Tuesday that the station had just extended a two-week operation focusing on robberies.
