In 2022, the city promised 90 tenants permanent supportive housing in the former Gotham Hotel, but they’re being moved out suddenly for major repairs. Tenants and staff say they’re mistrustful about their future, and frustrated with a lack of transparency from management.

Every year, the controller prepares an “Annual Performance Results” report on city services. Mixed results this time: crime is down, homelessness is up, and Muni ridership is gradually increasing.

San Francisco currently gets over $2 billion from the federal governmentโ€”half of it for Medicaid reimbursement. Now the city is budgeting a $400 million reserve in anticipation of cuts from the Trump administration.
