Today from Mission Local

Good afternoon! Here’s the latest:

San Francisco took the EPA all the way to the Supreme Court, and has now won the right to keep dumping untreated sewage offshore. Joe Eskenazi explains why our progressive city handed “a who’s who of polluters” a victory over clean water standards.

If you missed Joe’s conversation with Sen. Scott Weiner last week, we’ve got a transcript. Lots of nerdyโ€”and very interestingโ€”details about transit funding, Trump resisting, and California’s legislative process.

The first two evictions are hitting a group of homeless families who say Mayor Daniel Lurie promised they could stay in their shelters. The mothers, whose children attend Flynn Elementary School, say the shelter has threatened to call the police if they don’t leave tonight.

More soon,

Sara

San Franciscoโ€™s strange and terrible victory over the EPA

First homeless families to be evicted, despite Lurie’s reassurance

โ€œIt seems nonsensical to us that they have to go back onto the streets and get back on the shelter waitlist.”
