City experts to intervene in SFUSD crisis

Good afternoon!

Well, it was quite a dramatic weekend for the SF public schools. At an emergency meeting on Sunday, the Board of Education voted not to terminate the embattled Superintendent, Matt Wayne—at least for now. But the city is sending high-level support to the troubled school district, including a team of experts to look over Wayne’s shoulder, and financial help.

How did we get into this mess? And what does it mean for the proposed school closures? Joe Eskenazi reports on the next steps, and what parents, Board of Ed members, and lawyers are saying.
