The location: half a block away from Marshall Elementary School. The weapon: a Razor scooter.

The culprits, however, were not a band of angry 8-year-olds, but instead two 20-year-old men, and the assault was not nearly as trivial as the weapon sounds. The suspects approached two other men in their late thirties this morning at 1:00 a.m. on 15th and Natoma streets. One of the suspects hit one of the victims over the head several times with the Razor scooter, knocking him out.

The victim’s companion tried to stop the attack, but as he did, the suspects kicked him in the back and grabbed the victim’s property — including his cell phone and some cash.

The first suspect fled on a bicycle. The second suspect fled on the scooter.

Unfortunately for the first suspect, he dropped his backpack in the scuffle, and it was retrieved by the man they had kicked in the back. He has since been identified, although the second suspect remains unidentified.

The victim who was beaten with the scooter suffered cuts to his mouth and temple, and was taken to San Francisco General Hospital. His companion declined medical attention.

No arrests have been made.

They stole his cell phone and some money, and fled west on foot on 19th Street, towards Mission Street.

The victim was taken to San Francisco General Hospital to be treated for non-life threatening head injuries.

No arrests have been made.
