I spotted this shiny door hanger quoting part of the police Miranda Warning on a front gate yesterday. Capp Street CrapSFist and Reddit have noticed too. Theories range from viral marketing campaign to student activism, but nobody seems to have any answers. Any artist groups out there want to take credit? Got a theory to add?

UPDATE: SFist has the answer! Turns out, it appears to be a social art project by artist Brian Singer / “SomeGuy,” who explains on his website he’s calling attention to privacy issues and how judge the words and actions of strangers.

  1. Maybe it’s the sibling or friend of someone that was arrested. They witnessed that person screaming and bad mouthing the cop while being arrested. It led to more violence against them and a harder fine/sentence. IF you are being arrested or detained by a police officer, shut your big yapper, do everything they say, and look scared and humble. You will never increase the charges against you and it may help you get out of trouble every once in a while.

  2. I think it is an ad for Cards Against Humanity. They are coming out with a Bay Area edition. It kind of freaked me out at first…
