The Chronicle reports that the plan to name the western span of the Bay Bridge after the former Assembly speaker and San Francisco mayor Willie Brown is still up in the air. And it’s been a heated battle. Senate Transportation Committee Chair Mark DeSaulnier recently remarked that if the bridge is named after Brown, former state senator Quentin Kopp “is going to have a heart attack.” The move could be approved this afternoon, so we’ll find out the state of Kopp’s cardiac health soon enough.

According to SF Weekly, the two transit startups Uber and Lyft are facing lawsuits for labor violations and unfair competition. In both cases, drivers say that they’re getting the short end of the stick. Weekly reports:

The latest lawsuit, filed Tuesday, argues that drivers…are in fact employees of Lyft, which means they warrant protection from the California Labor Code. Thus, Lyft should be prohibited from skimming 20 percent from drivers’ gratuities, and it should provide wage statements that accurately reflect the number of hours that each driver worked.
