A 28-year-old woman was robbed at gunpoint at 3 a.m. on Wednesday at Valencia and 24th streets.

The woman was walking along the street when two men got out of a black sedan and approached her. One of the suspects stole her purse, then both suspects got back into the vehicle and fled, according to police.

The woman complained of pain to her side but refused to go to the hospital, police said.

A 44-year-old man was robbed at 11:30 p.m. on Sunday while walking on Market and Sanchez streets, according to police.

Two suspects, described as 25-year-old men, approached the victim from behind. One suspect confronted the man and punched him in the nose. The suspects then went through the victim’s pockets and took his cell phone and wallet, which contained credit cards and some cash.

The victim suffered a bloody nose but refused to go to the hospital, according to police reports.

No arrest has been made.

  1. I can’t understand why more CCTV cameras are not in operation on the worst crime areas in the mission.. 24th st. Mission. This has worked very well in cities in the UK.
Improved streetlighting too – would expose these criminals, and make the conviction rate go up .. if the cops actually did something with the evidence that is ..

  2. I have lived in the Mission for 12 years. Last summer, you couldn’t spit without hitting one of the SFPDs foot patrols. I still see them patrolling the neighborhood, but always now in their cars. Not as effective for being proactive to keep the crime down, but more effective for the chase once the crime has been done. It seems the focus is more toward after the fact rather than keeping the crime from happening in the first place.

I walk the neighborhood all the time and stay aware of my surroundings. This trend of driving up, getting out, and attacking is quite frightening.

Maybe she just got off from work – bar, restaurant, hotel workers have shifts like that.
“Well when you are stumbling home from the bar at 3 am you look like a pretty easy victim. This is a City after all… Cant really blame the cops for this one”.

  4. Seriously, SFPD, wtf?? It seems like there’s news of muggings in the Mission every effing day now. For the love of god, how about getting out and patrolling the gerddamned neighborhood for once.

  5. I wish the New York Times and other such publications would start talking about how unsafe the Mission is and not just how trendy it is, then maybe the city would consider doing something about it.

Oh wait, SF doesn’t care about tourism as a source of income anyways as is obvious to anyone who walks along Market St or around Union Square.

    1. Of course we care about tourism. Haven’t you welcomed your out of town guests at the BART portal at 16th/Mission lately? Its just steps from the best hipster-gastro pubs money can buy. Shave AND a haircut for all.
