The Mission Bowling Club, 3176 17th St., will open on Monday, March 19, according to co-owner Sommer Peterson.
For the first week the hours will be 6-11 p.m., Peterson said. Then on Monday, March 26, the club will expand to its regular hours: Mon.-Fri., 3-11 p.m. (21 and over only); Sat., noon-midnight (noon-7 p.m., all ages; 7 p.m.-midnight, 21 and over); and Sun., noon-11 p.m. (noon-7 p.m., all ages; 7-11 p.m., 21 and over).
Antony Myint’s kitchen will open at noon on weekends and 6 p.m. Monday through Friday. Myint’s menu includes snacks such as Thai beef jerky ($5), a pretzel with lardo mostardo ($5) and spring roll with peas, radishes, mint, cocoa butter, rice and nori ($7). As Myint previously told Mission Loc@l, the menu will also include “food on a stick,” such as a $6 sausage corn dog with habanero crema, $4 home fries with charred scallion tzatziki and $6 fried chicken with ranch dip.
Salads will range from $9 to $12, and entrees from $10 for the vegan burger to $20 for the roast chicken caesar (a half-chicken with griddled bread and boquerones). You can also get the Mission Burger for $15, or blackened catfish with potato puree and green onions for $16. Oh, and there are also desserts.
The sale of selected dishes will benefit local youth causes.

$6 for a corndog? $15 for a burger??? Eeek, methinks not! I appreciate fine food as much as the next person, but there comes a point when one has to start considering whether the food is worth it, or if the I’ll-pay-any-price cult of foodie hipsterdom has really just gone too far! As a neighborhood resident, it pains me to see over-priced restaurant after over-priced restaurant opening up lately…
As for food, let’s not forget the awesome Bite Me across the street. Hopefully they will stay open later.
