Good morning Mission! It’s 7:33 a.m., a cool 48°, headed for a high of 55°. There’s a slight chance of rain during the day and it’s likely to shower this the evening. See the weather for the week here.

Some sad news from yesterday — Whitney Houston has died at 48 in a Beverly Hills hotel. Here’s an isolated voice track from her song, “How Will I Know” — it’s hauntingly beautiful.

More locally, Bernal Heights residents are mourning the death of a homeless man who lived in Precita Park. The Bay Citizen has the story.

And here’s some good news: kids may ride Muni for free by summer. A proposed program would give youngsters free or reduced-rate passes to ride around the city. “It’s also about investing in a new generation of riders,” Supervisor David Campos told the San Francisco Chronicle.

An admitted technophile, Jessica Lum navigates the Mission with Google Maps, but has only really come to know the neighborhood by wandering on foot, looking at murals, and occasionally watching the guy on the BART steps play “Stairway to Heaven.”
