Hiring in journalism is always good news. It shows expansion in an industry that’s constantly shrinking, and a healthy outlook.
Thatโs true at Mission Local โ so much so that we now need someone to help manage our business, marketing and strategic growth. As a result, we are looking for our first-ever publisher.
In the past, our editors have done all of the above, and theyโve done it well enough to get us to this point, a place where our enterprise is simply too big for editors to manage the reporters as well as the business team.ย
So, exciting times. If you are interested in this position and have the needed experience, please apply. The full posting is below. We are accepting applications on a rolling basis and hope to begin interviewing candidates in early April.
About Mission Local
Mission Local is an independent nonprofit news organization in San Francisco that produces high-impact, nonpartisan reporting on issues ranging from City Hall and police reform to housing, neighborhood business, and money in politics.
Founded in 2008 in the Mission District, Mission Local has grown from a startup telling citywide and local stories from the Mission to a newsroom of 17 that delivers vital news to neighborhoods across San Francisco.
We are committed to equity, inclusion and building trust, both through our journalism and by training the next generation of journalists who reflect the diversity of San Francisco.
