A 32-year-old San Francisco sheriff’s deputy was arrested on Monday for allegations of domestic battery and released without being charged.
Police said that on Sunday, Sept. 28, a victim walked into the Park Police Station in Golden Gate Park to report that earlier that night, “an incident occurred with the suspect known to the victim,” according to police spokesperson Officer Eve Laokwansathitaya.
“The victim had no reports of injuries at the time,” Laokwansathitaya said, but police found probable cause to arrest Louis Alessandria. It’s unclear what probable cause was found, and neither the police or the DA clarified.
District Attorney Brooke Jenkins declined to charge the case, however, saying the case did not meet her office’s burden of proof.
“We take each case seriously, and make charging decisions based on the facts, evidence and the law,” DA spokesperson Randy Quezada said in a statement. “In this case, we did not have enough admissible evidence to meet our burden so were unable to charge this case.”
Mission Local could not reach Alessandria or his attorney for comment.
Rani Singh, the sheriff’s department’s attorney, said that an “internal administrative process” and, likely, an investigation into the incident will follow. Singh said that an internal inquiry has a lower burden of proof than criminal charges.
Some studies have shown that law-enforcement officers are more likely to perpetrate domestic violence than the general population.
A relatively new hire, Alessandria started working for the Sheriff’s Office in December 2023, Singh confirmed. Singh declined to provide Alessandria’s work assignment, but typically, newer deputies work in the city’s jails.
Records also show that Alessandria served a brief stint as a Daly City police officer in 2022.
Quezada added that if additional evidence arose within a year, the misdemeanor case could still be charged in the future.
There probably isn’t enough evidence to charge this –but the record shows that Jenkins doesn’t file Domestic Violence charges anyway.
And she has a record of dismissing charges against law enforcement personnel.

something fishy if he left Daly City to work in a jail. Isn’t DC’s bennies better? Let go in lieu of? As an old crusty boss use to say, “booze, broads and your badge” off duty are never a good mix.
Meanwhile, charges were filed against Ross Mirkarimi in 2011 after a busybody chasing fame blew the whistle and SFPD salivated at the opportunity. Ross and Iliana are still together and have a wonderful family.
How’s their kid doing? If I recall correctly, one of the charges was facing before he pled guilty to false imprisonment was child endangerment.
Public records request. Get the body cam footage and the police report and report on this again. There’ll be story there for sure.
I wish you guys would report on every battery case that the da doesn’t prosecute, not just ones in a veiled attempt at smearing law enforcement. No one is perfect, so report on everyone who is imperfect, or don’t report on anyone.
I believe there isn’t enough to charge because the woman could be making a false allegation…happens all the time.
