The San Francisco Police Department on Thursday said officers arrested a man suspected of shooting and killing a 19-year-old in a Mission District home last Friday.

The suspect, 21-year-old Trayvon Williams, was arrested in Novato on Wednesday by officers from the SFPD, the Novato police department, and the Marin County SWAT team, according to the SFPD. He was taken into custody and booked into San Francisco jail on May 7 at 11:44 p.m., according to jail records.

He’s being held on charges of murder and first-degree robbery.

Williams is suspected of killing Keyandre Elijah Bates, a 19-year-old who was slain in a daylight shooting, San Francisco’s sixth homicide of 2025.

Bates was in a home near 26th and Alabama streets on Friday when he was killed. Police responded at 12:48 p.m., and declared Bates dead on-site. Onlookers gathered outside the home that afternoon, and cried when Bates was wheeled out of the home.

The SFPD homicide division led the investigation, the department said, and obtained search and arrest warrants for Williams.

Although an arrest has been made, this is still an open and active investigation. Anyone with information is asked to contact the SFPD at 1-415-575-4444 or text a tip to TIP411 and begin the message with SFPD.
