Update: The sheriff’s department said in a revised statement on Monday that the men carried a flash drive for city employees to upload information, and wore DOGECOIN cryptocurrency shirts and “non-descriptive” hats. They were unable to produce any formal identification, and were allegedly “verbally aggressive” and insulted staff.

Three men dressed in Department of Government Efficiency T-shirts and “Make America Great Again” hats entered multiple offices at San Francisco City Hall today, Mission Local has learned, demanding access to files before being rejected and fleeing the building.

The sheriff’s department, which responded to the incidents, said it believes the men were impersonating employees of DOGE, Elon Musk’s task force at the federal level, which has taken a hatchet to government budgets.

The incident occurred around noon today.

The men claimed they required information related to “alleged wasteful government spending and fraud,” Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Tara Moriarty said, but employees in “various offices” at City Hall refused, and called for help from sheriff’s deputies.

In recent weeks, Musk and his DOGE acolytes have similarly entered federal government offices, from the U.S. Treasury to USAID, demanding and obtaining access to sensitive files as part of a purported cost-cutting mission. Musk has claimed, without evidence, that the action is uncovering waste, fraud and abuse.

“Deputies immediately responded, but the individuals had fled the building,” Moriarty said in a statement. The incident is currently under investigation as the sheriff’s department reviews surveillance footage.

Board of Supervisors President Rafael Mandelman said the men approached the Assessment Appeals Board office. Mandelman applauded the city employees who refused to grant them access.

“Our people said no! And good for them. That’s got to be a super scary, intimidating moment,” Mandelman. “They had the presence of mind to say, ‘No we’re not giving you access and we’re going to call the sheriffs.'”

  1. “Fled the building” ..so surprising, those cowards probably got inspired by another coward who dodge the draft 5 times with the help of daddy’s money; yes daddy, pappys’ money, little papa, little daddy, little tiny Daddy. We all know that usually the loudest man in a room is usually the biggest coward.

      1. That never happened before, but it’s happening now. Trump and Musk are defunding the police by laying off thousands of FBI agents.

  2. Realize this is obvious, but Musk and his drone of “employees “ have no jurisdiction over SF City Hall. The only offices they could try and get information from would be federally run offices.

  3. What files were they requesting?

Were those files supposed to be available to the public?

    Were they threatening physical violence?

  4. What a bunch of doge-bags.

And amateur fraudsters at that. Anyone who seriously wanted SF’s files on city “wasteful government spending and fraud” would have needed WAY more than three people to haul all the boxes.

  5. im not sure if the media is delusional, dumb, or paid off at this point… this level of bad storytelling, bias, grammar, editing, etc in the media today should really be addressed at some point. This article in particular goes as far as making assumptions & attempted inception by leading the audience into thinking something illegal was transpiring. The best part imo is stating that police were contacted & investigation is underway, when police were already in the building & nothing/no one was questioned period. This is just another way the media is controlling hate/divide in this country & I pray Americans wake up & start researching for themselves… pretty sure this comment will be removed…

    1. Making demands while impersonating government officials is fraud. Even if you do it incompetently and run away when they call you on it, that’s a potentially criminal act depending on what was actually said and how it went down. We admittedly don’t have any solid details on those particulars, the media included, because this happened a day ago. That’s pretty typical. Also, as you take such issue with “grammar, editing, etc” why not take a swing at punctuation? Nobody should think about removing your comment – except yourself, with a tiny tinge of regret perhaps. Ask yourself, what am I even defending and why?

  6. Campers,
    I love it !!
C’mon, I’m guessing a new variation of the ole, “Look at my boobs or thang !!” that was called ‘Streaking’ back before most of you were born.

    lol

Really, nowadays it’s called Performance Art and a guy who called himself ‘Grasshopper’ in the phone book as such, stayed in character for the entire 2007 Mayor’s Race and there was a real clown (Kenny the Clown) and Cat House Owner (Michael Powers who dressed in full Viking Regalia) and y’all don’t have any fun in politics like we did.

Ahsha Safai might have won this past Mayoral Contest if he’d campaigned nude.

Oh, we had a nakid guy in 2007 too.

    go Niners !!

    h.
