A Mission resident went to the Walgreens at 24th Steet and Potrero Avenue this morning to discover the store closed and its front door bashed in.

For now, the store remains shuttered. The closest Walgreens and pharmacy is at 23rd and Mission streets.

The San Francisco Police Department reports that at 4:14 a.m. today, officers responded to the 1100 block of Potrero Ave. regarding a burglary.

Taken by a neighbor at the time of the incident.

A neighbor said that around 4:10 a.m. the vehicle crashed into the Walgreens. “It was moving back and forth into the store after the initial crash,” the neighbor wrote.

“After around 90 seconds of this, two people fled the vehicle, and got into a white minivan” and drove away. The van was in front of the store. Police were at the scene around 4:20 am., the witness wrote.

Officers were advised that an unknown suspect rammed a vehicle into the Walgreens.

Officers “observed significant damage to the business caused by an unoccupied vehicle left at the scene,” but learned that “no suspects were observed making entry into the business.”

At present, it appears that nothing was taken from the store, the SFPD wrote.

“Officers were advised that the vehicle on scene was initially accompanied by two other vehicles that fled southbound on Potrero Ave.,” the SFPD wrote.

No arrests have been made at this time.

  1. It’s one thing to ram your car into Louis Vuitton or Dior to steal stuff, but doing it at the 24th & Potrero Walgreens is just sad.

    1. They probably went after the ATM inside the store. In 11/13/23, the thief ripped out the ATM from Walgreen on 23rd and mission.

  3. This kind of “event” seen by people who don’t live in cities makes Trump look like a speaker of truth : He included multiple Californian cities on a list of “war zones and ganglands.””.

When Harris said she’d keep the Biden programs people see this as the expected result. The “bollards” in front of Dior at Union Square just reinforce the perception of failed policies.
