San Francisco recorded its 16th homicide on Tuesday night after police officers from Ingleside station responded to a shooting near Mission Street and Silver Avenue.
Officers arrived at the scene at 11:09 p.m. and found a person suffering from an apparent gunshot wound, the San Francisco Police Department wrote in an email. Despite efforts by officers and medical responders the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
It was the third homicide recorded in San Francisco in June after the shooting of Luis Manuel Arguello-Inglis on June 5 at Dolores Park and Dacari Spears on June 15.
In 2023, 23 homicides recorded between Jan. 1 and June 20, which indicates homicides are down 26 percent this year.
Mission Local reached out to the San Francisco Medical Examiner’s Office to verify the victim’s identity, but we not receive a response before this story was published.
This is a developing story and we will continue to update it.
This remains an open investigation by SFPD’s Homicide Unit. Anyone with information is asked to call the SFPD Tip Line at 1-415-575-4444 or Text a Tip to TIP411 and begin the text message with SFPD.
