  1. A while back, Mission Local posted an article on The Creamery wishing to open a shop in the Northern part of the Mission, and the opposition by members of the public to their opening. I think the opponents did not understand. This was not some rich coffee shop from SOMA. It was located in a simple, makeshift corner of 4th and Townsend…the staff were very friendly, and it served as a great meeting place in an area that had few. The land is owned by a mega developer who is planning a giant highrise on the spot. The Creamery was not allowed to continue until permits were pulled, and now the space has been empty for a couple of years. The owner of the business, was a simple coffee house owner who needed to find a new spot for the shop. I think under the circumstances, the opposition was very ungracious in its treatment of The Creamery and had little understanding of what a positive effect that shop might have had in an area that once housed the King of Porn. (Fortunately, they moved to Nevada.) Maybe a little careful study was needed before everyone became so self – righteous.
