Wow. What a difference not paying attention for several years can make. Many (many…) years ago I had pizza at Katz’s with The Old Lady, back when the bagel was still flying. There was a whole wall dedicated to color photos of 16th Street people who worked at or hung near places like La Mediterranee, Sunflower, K&D, Casa Thai, Mi Tierra, and so on. There was also an ambitious chef-waiter-cashier who insisted I try his new pizza slice with sauce, cheese and thinly sliced potato. Not a bad slice at all. But the game was waiting for me over at Kilowatt, so I thanked everyone for dinner and went back across the street. Angel’s beautiful snap punctuates the passage of time.
