How did you come across this job?
I had been volunteering at 826 Valencia and saw the job opening. I recently finished grad school and the part-time job was a great fit for me because I wanted to focus on my writing. I’m working on a young adult sci-fi novel.
What are your duties?
I am in charge of the puffer fish. I feed it at morning and night. I also make sure things are tidy and neat in the shop.
What is your favorite part about this job?
This is the nicest group of people I’ve ever worked with. Everybody from volunteers to the staff are really passionate about our mission.
What’s something you wish you could change about your job?
I wish the store was bigger. It gets very crowded during the summer with tourists.
Also, I’m obsessed with Dave Eggers (the writer/co-founder of 826 Valencia)… Does he come by?
