A 44 year-old-man was sent to the hospital in non-life threatening condition after being attacked near the intersection of South Van Ness Avenue and 23rd Street on Thursday morning. At approximately 1:10 a.m., the man was walking on 23rd Street alongside a woman, estimated to be 25 years old and identified as a suspect in the attack, when he was approached from behind by another man, about 38 years old.

Police report that the attacker grabbed the 44-year-old man by his shirt collar and pulled him backward, causing him to fall and hit his head on the sidewalk. Both suspects fled on foot in an unknown direction, and the victim suffered a laceration to the back of his head. No arrests have been made.

Also on Thursday, around 1:35 a.m., a 30-year-old man was sleeping in his home near Alabama and 20th streets, but awoke to the sound of a window breaking.  After checking his living room, the man discovered that a burglar had entered his residence and stolen some of his property, including a gym bag and boxing gloves – before fleeing the scene. Police have not made an arrest.
