Police report a 30-year-old man and 34-year-old woman were waiting for a bus at 16th and Mission streets at 9:15 p.m. on Thursday when three men in their early 20s approached the pair from behind and struck the man on the back of the head. The victim fell to the ground, and the suspects told the woman that she had better not call the police. They then stole the woman’s shoes and fled on foot. The man was transported to the hospital for treatment of a non-life-threatening head injury, and no arrest was made.
At 11:30 p.m. on Monday, two men aged 23 and 24 were walking on 16th Street near Mission Street when two men in their late 30s approached. One of the older men took the 23-year-old’s phone, and the victim and his friend tried to recover it. The victims and suspects then got in a physical altercation, during which the 24-year-old was hit in the head with an unknown object. The suspects fled on foot and were not arrested. The man whose phone was stolen suffered a hand injury and the other man an injury on his forehead, but both declined medical attention.

16th and Mission? 16TH AND MISSION??? At 9:15 pm? Two blocks from the Mission police station? The jokes on you San Franciscans, a city with a ten billion dollar budget! This just shows how weak or uncaring our local politicians are, especially David Campos and Scott Weiner. This station is used by their constituents and these assaults could happen to anyone. Our local politicians, including the the soon departing, looking for for another job at the public trough Tom Radulovich are so useless it’s beyond comprehension. Both the 16th St and the 24th St station should have cop cars parked at the stations during the hours of darkness, period.
