At 11:25 p.m. on Tuesday, a 48-year-old man and a 44-year-old woman were walking along Mission Street at 17th Street when a man, estimated to be between the ages of 25 and 30, approached them and attacked the male victim violently. After being punched in the head, the man fell to the ground. The woman handed over her money to the suspect, who then fled on foot. Police have not made an arrest in the robbery, but the male victim suffered a non-life-threatening laceration to his head and was transported to the hospital for treatment.

Sometime between 10 p.m. on Monday and 1 a.m. on Tuesday, an unidentified burglar cut the gate lock of an apartment building near 25th Street and San Jose Avenue, gaining entry to the building’s lobby where two of the tenants kept their bicycles. The burglar stole both of the bicycles and fled in an unknown direction. No arrests have been made.

  1. some news coverage on this death and its impact on the neighborhood would be great – it has been a VERY busy week on the 1000 block of Shotwell due to the memorial, which includes candles, photos of the deceased, flowers, and two huge walls of graffiti as well as neighbors paying their respects day and night.
