At 11 a.m. on Wednesday, a verbal altercation led to a life-threatening stabbing inside the All-Star Hotel at 2791 16th St. between Harrison and Folsom, a single room occupancy hotel. A 51-year-old resident of the hotel was visiting a friend when he got in a verbal altercation with Dennis Wilmot, another resident of the SRO and the suspect in the stabbing. The victim then left to get food for his friend and, upon returning, was stabbed in the abdomen by 65-year-old Wilmot. Wilmot then went back inside his room but was later arrested and booked for attempted murder.
The victim was transported to the hospital with life-threatening injuries, and there is no update on his condition as yet.
On Wednesday evening, a woman was robbed of her purse and kicked in the head by a man, but was able to recover her stolen purse after two bystanders chased down the would-be thieves. A 63-year-old woman was walking near 22nd and Capp at 5:30 p.m. when a man in his early 20s pushed her to the ground, snatched her purse, and kicked her in the head.
The suspect then fled, but two bystanders gave chase and quickly caught up to the suspect, who dropped the victim’s purse. The suspect continued to flee and the police have not made an arrest.
