In addition to two shootings that occurred last night, two men were stabbed in separate incidents at the intersection of 16th and Mission streets this weekend. The first, a 43-year-old man, was found by police officers at 4:20 p.m. on Saturday with a stab wound to his abdomen. He was transported to San Francisco General Hospital in life-threatening condition. No witnesses were located, and there is no suspect description available yet.

On Monday at 1 p.m., five men approached a 43-year-old man on 16th and Mission streets. One pulled out a large knife and cut the victim on his forearm, and then fled the scene without taking any of the victim’s property. The injury was non-life-threatening and no arrests were made.

Three Robberies

Three robberies also occurred over Labor Day weekend. The first took place at 5:19 p.m on Saturday on Hampshire and 26th streets, where a man in his thirties approached a 28-year-old man on the street and asked if he could borrow a cell phone. The suspect then grabbed the phone from the victim’s hand and punched him in the face before fleeing with the phone.

On Sunday at 7:45 a.m., four women and two men of unknown age grabbed a 24-year-old man from behind at 16th and Mission streets and put a knife to his back. The men reached into the victim’s pocket and took his cell phone and some cash before fleeing the scene. The man was uninjured, and no arrests were made.

That night, at around 10:45 p.m.,  two men and one woman in their mid-twenties approached a 36-year-old man who was smoking a cigarette on Capp Street between 20th and 21st streets. The suspects punched the man in the face and stole his smart phone before fleeing the scene in a grey sedan. No arrests have been made.

  1. Living on 24th st, nearly two blocks from last week’s shooting (I heard the shots from my apartment) I was wondering how things got so out of hand lately, specially with all this gentrification going on.Then thanks to Mission Local’s “Related” news posted right above, we’re subtly reminded that stabbings, shootings and robberies were happening at a similar pace back in 2010 and 2012, for example. I guess gentrification apparently hasn’t changed the neighborhood’s crime-prone character. The big difference I see is that now they’re charging ridiculous $3500 a month for a 1 bedroom apartment around here, and burritos aren’t dirt cheap anymore.

  2. What do you want to bet that it’s those gentrifying techies behind the robberies and stabbings? Googlers, for example, are always robbing and stabbing people, right? Keep them out of the mission, man!
