Friends in town this weekend? Looking for date ideas? Just plain bored? We’ve got your fix. Here’s what we’re thinking about doing this weekend:

Laura: First, if you missed ¿Cuál es el escándalo? (What is the Scandal), Eliana Lopez’ one-woman show about the domestic violence accusations against her husband, sheriff Ross Mirkarimi, you have another chance to see it! The show is back for a second run on July 9, 11 and 12 as well as July 17th to the 19th. So catch it tomorrow or Sunday night, or next weekend, at the MCCLAtickets are $20.

Also, attention cyclists: The Mission Branch of the public library is having a bike party this Saturday from noon to 5 p.m. Come early to get your broken bike fixed for free by Bay Area Bike Mobile. Other highlights include a bike petting zoo and crafts made from old inner tubes.

Alley Cat Books Gallery put together three of my favorite things: Frida Kahlo, local artists and Mission Local members – here is the full program for Fiesta Frida,

Also, this weekend The KnockOut promises a “10 Year Anniversary Blowout”. I’m totally on board with that, even if it’ll finish with me feeling like a prom chaperone, as usual [I’m the sober one]

I will drop in to see the exhibit at Campfire Galleries, which recently joined Mission Local, but which also has what looks to be a wonderful exhibit of  Pablo Cristi’s work. The opening reception is on Saturday.

Plus, I have to see the animals on Treat Avenue that the Randall Museum has brought over.  And maybe I will stop in at the 24th Street Bar across from BART, which recently opened and has what looks like very reasonably priced drinks. Plus, its woman-owned – Caroline Brown whose mother lives in the neighborhood.

Maybe there’s a trend here in recently opened women-owned businesses.   Trish Tracey, a chef/owner, recently opened Myriad on Mission Street. I just walked by and they have a sign out about their “sinfully delicious” deviled eggs and it is true…they are wonderfully sinful so maybe that is also a place to return to.

Emma

I’m super excited that they’ll be showing “Wild Tales” (Relatos salvajes in Spanish) this weekend at the Roxie, 9:30pm on Friday and 2:45 and 8:45 Saturday and Sunday. It’s a really fantastic and quirky Argentinian movie that came out this past year, comprised of a bunch of bizarre and hilarious shorts. Seriously, it’s great.
